KAWEMPE-TULA, UGANDA: Kisakye Alice

Alice purchased a second improved cook stove in 2014 after realizing the stove she had acquired in 2013 was very efficient, cooked fast, and kept heat for a very long time which enabled her to simmer food on a daily basis. She noticed a very big difference in the consumption of charcoal i.e. with the improved cook stoves, she spends 1,000 UGX (€0.22) a day to cook food for her family of seven. Before, she used to spend 3000 UGX (€0.66) a day. This means she is able to save 2,000 UGX (€0.44) every day. The savings are collected and are added in her poultry rearing business. She says she advertises the stoves to other people because they are very good and durable.
