Micro-entrepreneurs finding business success with the help of their improved cookstoves

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Three years ago, Justine started using an AES stove to boil water, which she sells as drinking water at her shop. And every day she boils around 100 liters of water to keep up with demand. Before she started using her AES stove she spent approximately 48,000 UGX ($14.40) weekly on charcoal to boil water. Today, using her AES stove, she spends 21,000 UGX ($6.30) to boil the same quantity of water. Her additional savings using an improved cookstove has attributed to her business success. “I like to use this stove. It helps me use less charcoal and make more money.”
