KAWEMPE, UGANDA: Namakua Masitula
Namakua, is a proud mother of five and and over the last 14 years has been running a simple shack restaurant to help support her family. Confidently, she attributes her business success to investing in improved cookstoves. It was seven years ago when she made the leap to buy five improved cookstoves to help her cook enough to serve 20 customers every day. And every day she only spends 3,000 UGX ($0.90) on charcoal, instead of 5,000 UGX ($1.50) using her other stoves. For small businesses like Namakua, every cent counts to keep the business afloat, and with improved charcoal stoves, savings come immediately.
