Betty

KAMPALA, UGANDA – Betty is a micro-entrepreneur who attributes her business success partly to the use of her improved cookstove. Using an improved cookstove, Betty is able to prepare lunch while attending to her vegetable stall. Betty prepares lunches for 15 people every day. Previously, Betty spent 2,500 UGX (0.66 Euros) a day on charcoal with her un-improved stove, but now only spends about 1,000 UGX (0.26 Euros) per day with her improved stove. With these fuel cost savings, she is able to put money aside daily to pay her childrens’ school fees.
